Australia’s first smart home insurance, Honey Insurance, has announced its strategic partnership with leading home builder, Metricon Homes to modernize the home insurance purchase experience for owners of newly built Metricon homes and offer an Australian first, proactive home insurance.
The past year has been a remarkable era for new home building across the country. Metricon has increased its dominance of the local housing market amid record levels of construction, with 1335 Australian families moving into their brand new Metricon home in the last quarter ending September 2021, alone.
Beyond the huge rise in new home construction, Honey has also found that Australians have been spending big on renovations with property owners having taken out $4.38 billion in loans to fund home improvements in the past 12 months. Honey’s recent research report has revealed 29% of Australians have proactively increased their home insurance to cover an increase in their property value due to alterations, additions, repairs and rebuilds in the past year. With the rampant demand in the renovation and homebuilding sector, having reliable home and contents insurance has never felt more important.
Richard Joffe, Founder and CEO of Honey Insurance said, “This partnership supports Honey’s focus to deliver smarter home insurance for Australians. Together we can spearhead a proactive solution that delivers tech-driven home insurance coverage directly into the digital mortgage and title process.
